Welcome to the website of St Luke’s, the parish church for the village of East Morton and the surrounding area. St Luke’s is a growing church situated at the heart of the village and well involved in the wider community. St Luke’s brings together a wide variety of people who want to celebrate the goodness of God and learn more about following in the way of Jesus.
Who's Who at St Luke's
The ministry team at St Luke's is shared with the parish of St Mary's, Riddlesden and is made up of the Vicar, Mike, Curate, Jenny, a non-stipendary minister, Tony and three readers, Ruth, Sal and Elspeth. Their work is assisted by the church wardens and many fantastic volunteers.
Rev Mike Cansdale has been Vicar of St Luke's, Morton and St Mary's, Riddlesden since 2009. He's the first point of contact if you have any questions. With two churches it isn't possible for Mike to be at all services but he leads the wider ministry team and coordinates the life and worship of the parishes. He also takes Baptism, Wedding and Funeral services.
Elspeth Cansdale (L) and Sal Browning(R) are Lay Readers. They work mainly on the team which runs the family services but also help to lead other services, both at St Luke's and St Mary's.
Rev Tony Cullingworth is our non-stipendary minister who mainly leads the 8.00am and 9.30am services at St Luke's, although he can also be found leading at St Mary's, Riddlesden, as well as taking Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals at St Luke's.
Ruth Copping is our Lay Reader who is mainly based at St Mary's, Riddlesden but occaionally leads services at St Luke's.
Rev Jenny Ramsden is our Self Supporting Curate who works with us on Sundays and one other day a week. Jenny also works for the Touchstone Centre in Bradford as a Faith to Faith worker. She also takes Baptism, Wedding and Funeral services.
